THE PERFECT PORT DOUGLAS LOCATION

Port Douglas is located in tropical north Queensland, Australia. It is approximately a one hour’s drive from Cairns via a scenic coastal road bordered by the rain forest and the Coral Sea. Port Douglas is one of Queensland’s and Australia’s premier holiday destinations situated between the two World heritage listed regions of the Great Barrier Reef and the rainforest of Daintree and Cape Tribulation.

Port Douglas Queensland, Australia

Port Douglas is the closest gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, a natural wonder with incredible biodiversity, colourful coral gardens of every shape and form, and home to an abundant array of tropical marine life. The World Heritage rainforests, comprising the lush green coastal strip of the Daintree and Cape Tribulation region to the north of Port Douglas, is home to some of the oldest forests in the world and is a treasure trove of rare plant and animal species. A huge variety of tours offering walks and safaris, diving and snorkelling, sailing and rafting, make it possible for everyone to have their own experience of the wonders of these two World heritage listed regions.

The Port Douglas village is nestled at the end of a peninsula with a natural harbour and marina on one side and the beautiful Four Mile Beach along the other, with the main street, Macrossan street, joining the two sides. Whilst retaining a village look with most buildings not exceeding the height of palm trees, a stroll down Macrossan Street will reveal a vibrant mix of clothing boutiques, galleries, cafes, bars, and restaurants. Nearby Wharf Street hosts the sunday markets showcasing local produce and artesans, and the marina from which all reef, sailing and fishing tours depart.
